Yo, I'm Hannah Jane Langejans. I like to be called Hannah or Hannah Jane. I was born in 1992, so, you do the math, I don't like to "label" my age with a number. I've lived in Grand Rapids, MI my entire life. I am a mother of two perfect human specimens, and I have agreed to spend my life with my lover and best friend. My favorite color is Green, but I do like pretty much all color-- I am a recovering color minimalist (things were a little touch and go there). I was studying biology in school, and I love maths, but dropped out to be a stay at home mom, and well, thats lasted 10 years. I launched my art business in 2018 and have had so much fun with watercolor, graphic design, murals, and anything wedding paper goods related.
We bought our home in 2016 ( yes, we got in at a very lucky time). It took 4 years and a full menty B + some hospital time for me to get into DIYing. I started using power tools 4 year ago, exactly this week. It was a special sort of additional therapy for me and it changed my life.
WHAT. AM. I. UP. TO???
This spring, I have decided to join the "One Room Challenge", (https://www.oneroomchallenge.com/orcblog ) only a DIYer, but a DESIGNER!
You read that right. This is my year. I'm transitioning from artist to Interior/exterior designer-- not only will I continue making art, but I was will putting art on to things and into spaces, and making spaces artfully designed. I will have 8 weeks to transform a space of my choosing!
UPCOMING PROJECT
Remember that dope-ass Greenhouse I built?? Oh, yeah, me too! Well, I'm completing part two, as well as; adding a patio area, landscaping, and a total deck transformation! We spend SO MUCH time in our 1 acre yard, especially in the summer. I am a gardener, so this greenhouse has been an actual dream come true!
My ALWAYS chaotic work space- sorry to my neat nellies, it'll never be me!
Yes, we had a dinner party!
GREENHOUSE RECAP
SOOOO quick recap on what I did this past fall. I started by collecting antique or discarded windows and doors about a year ago in spring '23. In fall, I told my husband- "just lemme get the main posts set with cement before the ground freezes so I can work on it early spring." LOoLLlOOlL. I done GOT those posts set, framed it entirely, full wood floor, and fully windowed. I spent under $40 on windows and slider door panels for the roof, and roughly $100 for the front slider door for the entrance. Yes, the wood was expensive and I lovingly refer to myself as "the over-build builder", so you know I didn't cut corners on the frame. I thrifted a few more surprises that you'll have to stay tuned for, and some HUGE mural work coming inside the greenhouse!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each week I will be posting official updates on my weekly progress, along with photos and videos on my instagram, so stay tuned!!

SOME INSPO
Love it! On my bucket list is a greenhouse, euro style. I live the PNW but my home is French. So a metal framed greenhouse with short, perimeter stone exterior is my dream. The ones I stare at online are $20k+ so I'm hoping to find one someone is selling and we can have it moved. Fat chance... but you just never know. I love the way you did the windows. That is a great use of your window collection. I want mine to be cozy too so I can sit in it during the 6 months of crappy weather out on the island I live on. 😉
